Enabling opportunities for musicians to be seen, heard, and supported
The Client
When Katie Byers launched HomeDitty, she wasn’t just building a tech platform—she was reviving the soul of live music, one living room at a time. HomeDitty empowers music lovers to host private, ticketed concerts in their homes, giving independent musicians intimate stages and giving communities unforgettable, personal experiences.
At its core, HomeDitty is about human connection. It bridges the digital and physical worlds in a way that feels personal and genuine. For Katie, this wasn’t just about tech—it was about fostering belonging, creating space for artistry, and bringing people together in meaningful ways.
The Situation
HomeDitty wasn’t just a feel-good idea—it was a logistics puzzle with a human soul.
On the host side, the experience needed to feel intuitive and flexible, whether the host was paying the musician’s fee themselves, or whether they were setting up a crowdfund for guests to contribute to. HomeDitty had to accommodate both models, allowing users to organize events their way—without a tech learning curve or awkward payment conversations.
For musicians, the needs were even more specific. The platform had to make it easy for them to set up a show, accept payments or donations, and track their earnings—all from a mobile device, on the go. And those earnings had to flow cleanly, with HomeDitty automatically taking its small platform fee without creating extra steps or delays.
Importantly, the financial interaction couldn’t stop at the front door. Many guests at HomeDitty concerts are inspired in the moment to support the artist. So the platform needed to support real-time, mobile donations during or after the performance—turning the emotional impact of live music into meaningful support for artists.
Getting all of this right wasn’t just about good UX. It was about preserving the magic that happens when someone opens their home, an artist shares their craft, and a room full of strangers becomes a community.

Security and compliance
Katie knew a secure, compliant solution was critical to achieve trust from musicians and hosts and comply with payment card industry regulations. That’s why we partnered with HomeDitty to design and implement appropriate security safeguards so they — and their users — could feel confident.
